Dennis Keeling has been a Business Software Analyst for over 25 years. He has advised some of the largest organisations in the world on business software selection. His first book - The Thesaurus of Business Software was published jointly with the ICAEW in 1988. He went on to write his top-selling detailed reports for Ovum until 2001.
In 1993 he helped found BASDA, which today represents over 200 software developers, and acted as its Chief Executive and president until he recently stepped down.
He has presented at the Softworld exhibitions since they started in 1992. He has recently undertaken software reviews for Accountancy Age - but now in a 10 minute video format. He continues to write articles for the press - see articles.
He is a member of the team supporting Knowledge Peers and has written various articles for them as well as taking part in various live interviews.
The idea of making his Thesaurus an on-line directory of all UK software products has really caught everyone's imagination. It was launched at the Softworld Exhibition held at Olympia on 14th October, 2008. See www.softcomparison.info. He has formed a new company Business Software Intelligence Ltd - which will provide web-services to suppliers and customers.
He has now started his own blog - Keeling Uncorked! He was gagged by BASDA in the later years from commenting on the Industry - he cannot understand why!
Getting factual Business Software Market intelligence is very difficult at the moment. So he has returned to undertaking his own impartial surveys. The first - to measure Customer Satisfaction in the Business Software market has just started. Why not enter your thoughts on your business software application?
You would consider buying a house without a surveyor's report?
How can you sign off a large IT investment without getting a trusted third party to review the preferred product choice?

The Business Software Market
The UK software market has changed in recent years - gone are the days when companies need to replace all of their disparate systems with one enterprise-wide (ERP) system. Today companies are preferring to add or replace specialist components of the overall system. But how do they find the most suitable components?
Dennis Keeling has set up a directory for all the business software products available in the UK. But more importantly - how each product fits into the overall IT architecture - a true Thesaurus.
This directory forms the basis of an advanced software selection web-site that enables end-user customers to browse the whole UK software market and, using advanced selection criteria, find the most suitable packages to review in detail. See www.softcomparison.info

Supplier & Product Data Collection - In Progress
We are researching the market to ensure that ALL UK SOFTWARE products are included. A basic directory entry is free to all software authors. We estimate that there are over 2,000 software products available as well as a host of specialist add-ons from the 3,000 + Value Added Resellers.
Customers are able to enter their basic selection criteria and the configuration engine provides them with a comparison of up to 5 software products.
Register your company and products here.
The final stage of the Thesaurus web-site deployment will be to enable end-user customers to make use of the site for their Reseller search and posting their Request for Information (RFI) to selected suppliers.
